Poor and Proud

Proud to be Poor

Not only am I proud and poor, but I am even proud to be poor.

The opposite is rampant in Christian America, where the American Dream pushes all of us towards pride in wealth, despite the clear lessons within the Bible (see Mark 12:41-44). Poor people even often respect those individuals who have inherited wealth and choose them as representatives for their well-being, despite an obvious inability for these chosen few to relate to the lives of the masses they represent.

But this is neither a religious nor a political blog.

It's more like a sarcastic self-help guide that will explore the differences between superficial happiness and happiness that doesn't require wealth and property. So it's an exploration of conscience.

Happiness is, first and foremost, a personal experience. Sure, you can be happy and wealthy, but isn't a happiness without wealth obviously more genuine? It's all about what individuals need to be happy. Some of us need more and are therefore not as happy with less. The source of my pride is in knowing this. I just need a little less to be happy, and (since this is a competition-based society) I'm a little bit better than those who need more.

Now I hope you understand how sad my life would be if it were infused with the pride and the riches that middle-class Americans have. I would probably have committed suicide by this point in time, so let me end by saying that this blog was created by an individual who did commit suicide. I killed the pseudo-Christian pro-capitalist American that I was raised to be, and now I am happier than I was.
